How to get to Ostional

Upon arriving in Costa Rica we recommend you stay in San José for one or two nights, allowing you time to visit the bank and make any last minute purchases (international phone cards etc) before going to the project site.

We recommend:

Galileo Hostel
(nice hostel with fair prices, in San José,
http://www.hostelgalileo.com),

or if you fly-in late at night (after dark) or just would like to get rid of your jet-lag in quieter environment:

Margarita—Casa de huépedes
Nice, home-stay-like accommodation with amazing food only 10 minutes from the airport, and a special price for our volunteers (30USD per night with three meals included).

Once in the country, volunteers will need to make their own travel arrangements to the project site.
There are two access routes to Ostional: via Santa Cruz or Nosara.
Both take approximately seven hours by bus from San José.
We recommend volunteers take the Santa Cruz route, because Santa Cruz has a direct bus connection to Ostional! Bus from Santa Cruz to Ostional departs at 12:30 noon.
Both buses leave from the bus terminal “Alfaro” in San José.
