Due to strong tides and human activity the beach of Ostional is partially covered with drift wood and (plastic) trash, that needs to be removed in order to give chance to the nesting female to emerge from the water onto the land and furthermore to clear the way for the hatching baby-turtles, that need to make a quick dash to the sea.
So every week a group consisting locals, volunteers, and staff member cleans parts of the beach to keep it nice and tidy.
